Young people living in Mahama camp receive secondary education in two schools next to the day school camp. However, these schools offer very limited sections. The technical and scientific sections are missing. In addition, living conditions at the Camp are not very conducive for quality learning.
Maison Shalom offers young people an opportunity to continue their studies in technical and scientific sections, in conditions conducive to learning and without being distracted by daily worries. The brightest young refugees are enrolled in public schools with recognized high-quality boarding schools. In these schools, students leave with sufficient intellectual background and perform very well in national exams.
Since 2016, 80-170 young refugees have been supported each year with school fees, scholastic materials, boarding equipment, transportation and health care.
